The Wooden Bowl 

I guarantee you will remember the tale of the  Wooden Bowl

tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now, a year from now.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in- law, and four-year  -  old grandson.

The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.

The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather' s shaky hands and

failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.

When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. 

The son and daughter-in- law became irritated with the mess.
 'We must do something about father,' said the son.

'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.' 

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.

There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner.

Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. 

When the family glanced in Grandfather' s direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone.

Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped  a fork or spilled food. 

The four-year-old watched it all in silence..

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor.

He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the boy responded,

'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up. 
 ' The four-year-old smiled and  went back to work.

The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless.

Then tears started to stream down their cheeks.

Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. 

That evening the husband took Grandfather' s hand and  gently  led him back to the family table.

For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason,

neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled. 

On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens,

how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. 

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things:

a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. 

I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents,

you'll miss them when they're gone from your life. 

I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a 'life..'

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands.

You need to be able to throw something back

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you

But,  if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, 

your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you 

I've learned that whenever I decide  something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone. 

People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

I've learned that you should pass this on to everyone you care about .I just did.

5 childhood dreams

Well, think childhood itself is a dream.  Childhood is a stage where you have many dreams. To think of 5 inspirational dreams, would not be that difficult.

Since young, there was this teacher in particular whom I did not like. She used to give lots of work and was very strict. I thought to myself that I would grow up to be a teacher unlike her. Many students did not like her and I thought that I will be a way better teacher and that the students will like me more. Actually, that was not really an inspiration it was actually to prove that I would be a good teacher.

After that I thought of being a vet because I love animals especially dogs. I do not own a pet but people around me do; dogs of different breed and sizes. I loved dogs and always wished to have one but could not. Thus, I decided to grow up and own a pet shop so I can have pets and dogs in particular.

Then I started to like babies. In my church there are quite a number of babies and I like to carry them and play with them. Many people in my church are actually child care teachers. I was greatly inspired by them and they were well to do. I wanted to be like them.

Then, I wanted to be a councilor. To hear out the worries, cries, happiness and all feelings of people. My mother and father are my main inspiration as they are studying to be councilors; but after looking at their work load and the amount of books they have to read, I kind of gave up that dream.

In church, we worship God. I love to sing though I am not up to standard. I wanted to become a singer when I grow up. I had the passion to sing and minister to people around me.  My father is actually a singer in the church and many other people too. They really inspired me.  My very close friends and I actually have a band. We practice every Sundays. We have even come up with our own songs but we have not recorded it yet as we need more practice and two of our band members are doing their PSLE this year. We have decided to start once PSLE is over. We cannot wait till then because we all like to sing and it is actually a dream come true.

Basically, I think these are the five “important” dreams in my life. There are more but I think five is enough.

Hi…today I reached school at around 6.50am.I came to school with Beryl. At around 7.00am I went down to the canteen to talk with my friends who were sitting and talking at the canteen. We talked and waited for our other friends to come to school. Three of my friends came later then me.

At around 7.20am, the school played some Christian songs on the speaker. My friends and I started walking to the courtyard as we knew that the teacher in charge was going to make an announcement for all the students to proceed to the courtyard. While we were walking to the courtyard the teacher called us to assemble.

Hey guys...how are you feeling as there is only a few more days for English exam...I am kind of nervous...but I think I can do it...erm...just want to tell u guys to put your heart and soul in studying an you can do it...all the best for all exams...signing off…angelina

I can help save the enviroment in many ways. I can help to pick up litter when I see them. I can also help by telling others not to litter and I can create posters.

I can help by not wasting paper. I can also tell my friends not to waste paper as it is very precious, so that we will not have many trees to be cut down.

We can have recycling bins so that we can recycle used materials such as metal, paper, plastic and many more; but these are the very important ones.

In school I can help by cleaning up the canteen, so that there would not be creepy crawlies around.

Firstly...I want escalators and cargo lifts in our new school building...so that we do not need to climb all the way up to the third or fourth floor using our legs...it is too tiring.

Secondly...I want air conditioned classrooms...because...too hot and if it is too hot we would not really concentrate on our studies as we would be wiping away our perspiration.

Thirdly...I want Sub Way in our school canteen, as the food they give is nice.

Fourthly...I want toilets in our classrooms so that we do not have to take the pass and go.

Fifthly…I would like each one of the students to have a laptop so that we can do all homework and stuff like that on the laptop.

I think that is all for now…Bye=D
